Were I but King of Anglophonia

Key

Something may be a key or the key to, but it cannot just be key. That usage is nonsensical.

For example, don't say, "A complete knowledge of the rules of English grammar is key for success in life. Instead, say, "Unquestioning obedience to the linguistic decrees of the King is the key to leading a happy life in Anglophonia."
